The Department of Information Technology was instituted in the year 2008 and has since then developed into a full-fledged department in a short epoch of time. Information Technology is an extension of Computer Science and is a derived subject, which is mainly involved in the management of information using computers. Information management in today’s era is the key to a smooth functioning economy. Both Computer Science engineers and IT engineers develop hardware and software. But IT looks into areas of management of information. In particular the use of electronic computers and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit and retrieve information from anywhere, anytime. The department houses a stimulating environment for student growth and manages to tap into the inherent potential of every student and moulds them into working professionals. It imparts academic, practical, technical and managerial skills to its students to enforce them with all the vital aspects they would need for their future careers.

The department is reputed for churning out skilled technocrats. It is looked upon with admiration for its excellent faculty who are more than equipped to train and guide the students. The college encourages the faculty to work with the other departments within the institute in order to bring about a well-rounded academic proficiency.
