Introduction –
Department Name: -
Civil
Civil engineering entails
all aspects of basic necessities and niceties like shelter, transportation, water
supply and waste disposal.
The standard of living of a country is structured based on the basic infrastructure
that is at its disposal like length of road per person, potable drinking water quantity
per person and so on. With the growth the world experiences every day, the need
for necessities are also heightened.
Civil Engineering being one of the oldest disciplines of engineering is looked upon
as a venerable degree that not only allows scope of improving the face of a country
but also looking into aspects of protecting its environment, social and economic
structure.
Land is a commodity that is a scarcity in recent times because of the extreme demands
on it with the exploding population the world has been experiencing of late. The
concept of vertical buildings has gripped the engineering world as being a possible
solution which has resulted in the towering buildings seen springing all over the
world. Few countries like Hong Kong and Singapore have taken a step ahead and also
built underground structures to save space.
But what the world requires is intelligent and well planned building which if built
in haste will only see the destruction and collapse that so many buildings have
resulted in. The force of Civil Engineering makes its mark here. Civil Engineering
will find an august position in the new era of human kind and its scope of improving
the world and environment will always be at zenith in this futuristic world we dwell
in.
